Neens from Ono Yum
Neens grew up in the island-style communities of San Diego. Far from Hawaii, but close to plate lunch, surfing and ukulele jammin, Neens is the creator of the Musubi Map and the I Love Poke Festival, both vehicles that reflect his passion for all things Hawaiian. He was raised on local-style home cooking thanks to his Mom, Gles, also known as the Filipina Betty Crocker. This recipe is one of Neens’ favorite dishes that he grew up eating, courtesy of his Mom. Thanks, Mom!

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 pound Thick cut bacon, put in freezer

4 slices cheddar cheese

2 Avocados, smashed

1 Onion, grilled

1/4 cup Sriracha & mayo combined to make a spicy mayo sauce. Ratio to your preference.

1 package KING'S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Deluxe Hamburger Buns

Preparation
Step 1
Finely chop frozen bacon. (Freezing your bacon makes it easier to chop. If you have a meat grinder, bacon does not need to be frozen, but most people don’t have one at home.)
Step 2
Take one quarter pound chopped bacon and one quarter pound ground beef and combine them to make a one half pound Hapa Burger patty. This recipe yields 4 one half pound patties. Grill hamburger patties until cooked all the way through.
Step 3
Melt cheddar cheese over your patties. While cheese is melting, toast KING’S HAWAIIAN buns over indirect heat. If indirect heat is not an option, keep a very close eye on your buns as they will toast fairly quickly over direct heat!
Step 4
Build your burger in this order: Bottom bun, spicy mayo, Hapa Burger patty w/ cheese, grilled onions, smashed avocado, top bun.

Neens from Ono Yum says:

Nobody ever complained about more bacon, so add more cooked crispy bacon to the burger for a little more tasty goodness!
