  • 1 package Hot Dogs (of your choice)
  • 1 package KING'S HAWAIIAN Hot Dog Buns
  • 1 Portuguese sausage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 Medium onion
  • 1 Garlic clove, minced
  • 1 (28ounce) can Stewed tomatos
  • 1 (8ounce) can Tomato sauce
  • 1 can Kidney beans
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • Dash Cayenne
  • 1 head Green cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 Large carrot, finely shredded
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon Celery seed

Preparation

Simmering stews are a big part of Hawaiian meals and believe it or not, so are hot dogs! Here's a great way to liven up your grilled hot dog with some Hawaiian Chili made with Portuguese Sausage and a little crunch of cool, creamy coleslaw.
Step 1
Chop the Portuguese sausage into small pieces, brown, then drain and set that aside.
Step 2
In the same pot brown the ground beef, then add the onions and garlic, cooking until soft.
Step 3
Add the stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce and kidney beans, as well as the Portuguese sausage.
Step 4
In a small bowl combine the chili powder, brown sugar, oregano, cumin, salt and pepper, stir together then add to the pot. Add the cayenne to your liking.
Step 5
Cook on a low simmer for 1 hour.
Step 6
In a small bowl stir together the mayonnaise, sour cream and celery seed. Toss with the shredded cabbage and carrot, season with some salt and pepper. Let chill in the fridge.
Step 7
Add your chili and slaw to your favorite hot dogs and enjoy!
