Entrepreneur Mahina Tuteur and her partner started doing puzzles during the pandemic—talking story and relaxing after long, stressful days with two little ones at home and so much uncertainty in the world. Mahina says puzzling inspires concentration and clarity, “kinda like being out in the water”.

That experience led to her creation of SurfShack Puzzles, a name that captures the laid-back, cozy vibe that inspires her eclectic group of featured female artists’ designs which induce relaxation and inspire joy.

With a full-time job in environmental and Native Hawaiian law, it’s only natural that Mahina made a commitment to sustainable practices a top priority. Surf Shack’s Puzzles are made from premium 100% recycled Eska board and printed with non-toxic inks. A matte finish reduces glare–like polarization for puzzles. A portion of the company’s proceeds are donated to marine conservation initiatives.
