Neens from Ono Yum
Neens grew up in the island-style communities of San Diego. Far from Hawaii, but close to plate lunch, surfing and ukulele jammin, Neens is the creator of the Musubi Map and the I Love Poke Festival, both vehicles that reflect his passion for all things Hawaiian. He was raised on local-style home cooking thanks to his Mom, Gles, also known as the Filipina Betty Crocker. This recipe is one of Neens’ favorite dishes that he grew up eating, courtesy of his Mom. Recipe Details

Rub Ingredients: *

1 tablespoon Kona Coffee, freshly ground

2 teaspoons Brown sugar, packed

2 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons pepper

1/2 teaspoon Granulated Garlic

Burger Ingredients: *

8 Beef patties

8 slices cheddar cheese

8 slices Bacon (cooked)

Maui onions, grilled

1 bottle KING'S HAWAIIAN Light Roasted Kona Coffee BBQ Sauce

1 package KING'S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Hamburger Buns

Step 1
Combine all ingredients for rub and set aside.
Step 2
Set barbecue grill to medium/high heat.
Step 3
Season patties with rub, place on grill and cooked to preferred temperature.
Step 4
Place cheese on top of patties right before meat is done cooking. Let cheese melt.
Step 5
Toast KING’S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Hamburger Buns if desired.
Step 6
Build your burger: Bottom bun, KH Kona Coffee BBQ sauce, coffee rubbed hamburger patty, cheese, bacon, grilled Maui onions, more bbq sauce, top bun.
