'ULU MANA HAWAI‘I
'Ulu Mana’s founder, Loren Shoop, is on a mission to bring breadfruit ('ulu) into the spotlight as a widely recognized food source. Loren and his team create unique and delicious products made from 'ulu. All 'Ulu Mana products are minimally processed in their Honolulu facility and their ingredients are responsibly sourced. An 'ulu tree can produce an abundance of nutritious breadfruit–on average between 250 to 1,000 pounds a year–and can do so for 75 to 100 years with little maintenance. By utilizing sustainable crops, 'Ulu Mana contributes to the health of Hawai'i’s local farms, community and economy.
Breadfruit gets its name from when it is freshly cooked-it smells and resembles freshly baked bread. Most people say it tastes like potato. Breadfruit is high in iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, thiamin, niacin, vitamins, dietary fiber, and complex carbs. It's naturally gluten free and has a low-medium glycemic index.
'Ulu Mana cares about what they make, how they make it, where it’s made, and how it tastes–never skipping corners and taking great pride in their products.
