Inspired by the flavors of Hawaii, this French Toast recipe features irresistibly delicious, perfectly toasted King’s Hawaiian Sliced Bread sprinkled with shredded coconut, smothered in caramelized pineapples and drizzled with sweet maple syrup.
1. Melt about 1 Tablespoon of butter in a pan over medium heat. Dip a slice of the King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Sliced Bread into the egg mixture (4 eggs, ½ cup full fat coconut milk, 1 teaspoon coconut extract, pinch of salt, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon), coating both sides, and set the soaked bread into the hot pan. Cook until the toast is golden brown on each side, about 2 minutes per side.
2. While cooking the French Toast slices, you can prepare the caramelized pineapples on the side. Melt 2 Tablespoons of butter in a pan. Place the brown sugar in a large bowl and gently toss the pineapple chunks through the sugar to coat. Transfer the coated pineapple chunks to the pan. Let the pineapple cook for about 5 minutes, then toss the pineapple around and cook for another five minutes, or until the pineapple chunks are caramelized, and set aside.
3. Serve the French toast with a sprinkle of shredded coconut, a generous spoonful of caramelized pineapple, and a drizzle of maple syrup.
