
Honey Bbq Tri-tip Sandwich

- 6 Buns KING'S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Hamburger Buns
- 1/2 teaspoon Butter (for toasting buns)
- 3 pounds Beef tri-tip
- To taste sea salt
- To taste Fresh ground black pepper
- 1 ounce canola oil
- 2 tablespoons Big Island Bees Wilelaiki Honey (available online at www.kingshawaiian.com)
- 16 ounces Your favorite BBQ sauce
- 2 each Vine ripe tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons Green Onions, chopped
- Ingredients for Home Made Pickles: *
- 1 each Hot House English Cucumber
- 2 cups white wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Fresh Dill Chopped
- To taste sea salt
- To taste Fresh ground black pepper
Preparation
- 1 Pre-heat Grill
- 2 Season tri-tip with sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste.
- 3 Heat canola oil in large saute pan on medium high heat and sear tri-tip until dark golden brown on each side.
- 4 Coat top and bottom of seared tri-tip with Big Island Bees Wilelaiki Honey and then generously cover with your favorite BBQ sauce.
- 5 Place seared tri-tip onto grill for about 25 minutes. When tri-tip reaches 130 - 140 degrees, remove from the grill and let rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
- 6 Make pickles. Cut cucumber cut into 1/4
- 7 Toast lightly buttered buns on grill and set aside.
- 8 Carefully slice tri-tip into 1/8 inch slices
- 9 Assemble sandwiches. On bun bottoms, place sliced tomatoes, then pickled cucumbers, then sliced tri-tip. Pour remaining BBQ sauce on top. Sprinkle green onions on top of that. Place top bun and serve.
