Created by Nancy Taylor from Cambria, CA, this recipe won the KC Masterpiece® Real Deal Recipe Contest, which KING'S HAWAIIAN co-sponsors. This Central Coast Pulled Pork Delight recipe from Nancy Taylor won first place at the California Mid-State Fair. Nancy is a 38-year-old mother of three who loves cooking. As a first-time cooking competitor, Nancy says pork with BBQ sauce is her favorite.
Mix water, molasses and salt in large container until salt is dissolved. Place pork tri-tip in a one (1) gallon Glad® Food Storage Bag and pour in all the liquid to cover. Remove extra air and seal bag. Place in a bowl in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours. Make sure to rotate once.
Remove the pork from bag and pat dry with paper towel (discard remaining liquid). Sprinkle with onion powder, garlic powder and black pepper evenly over the pork.
Place in a roasting pan lined with foil and cover. Place the seasoned pork in a 225°F oven and roast for 7 to 8 hours or until it reaches 170°F and starts to pull apart.
Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
Pull pork apart and mix in KC Masterpiece® Barbecue Sauce. Serve on KING’S HAWAIIAN® Hamburger Buns.
