So, if you’re wondering what to make for a party, dinner, or a quick, tasty snack, Grilled Salmon Sliders are your one-stop shop! They’re shareable, delicious and can easily be scaled to cater to the number of people you’re cooking for. Family of four? Sure! Party of ten? Let’s do it!
1. Let’s Get Saucy
Let’s get started. Combine capers, cilantro, lemon juice, and mayonnaise in a bowl. Whisk them together until well-mixed to create a zesty sauce.
The capers provide a bold, salty flavor profile, cilantro adds a burst of aromatic freshness, and lemon juice cuts the savory flavors brought by the mayo.
Once ingredients have been combined, set the sauce in the refrigerator.
2. Sizzle Up Some Bacon!
The bacon is really what’s going to make your mouth water. Start by heating your frying pan or skillet over medium high heat. Carefully place each delicious bacon strip into the hot pan.
When doing this, you can lay them flat or you can curl them a bit so they match the shape of your salmon sliders. Let the bacon sizzle and cook for about two to four minutes per side or until you reach your desired level of crispness (Pro tip: the crispier, the better! Due to the softness of the salmon, crispy bacon will enable you to play with textures).
Once the bacon is done, remove it from your pan and blot away grease. Reducing the grease will help amplify the crisp. Set bacon aside and try not to snack on it too much before you assemble your sliders.
3. Cook the Salmon
Now it’s time to prepare the salmon. Start by cutting a fresh salmon filet into smaller pieces that fit the size of each roll, each being about 1-1 ½ ounces.
Then sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper on each piece of salmon. Salmon has a naturally delicious taste –buttery, rich, and somewhat sweet. Wild-caught salmon species have nutty undertones that add to the complexity of their flavor.
To ensure the salmon delivers nothing short of irresistible, sear it in a hot skillet over medium-high heat for 2 minutes on each side.
Searing meat is a great method for preserving the natural juicy quality, but achieving a slightly crunchy exterior. The golden-brown exterior provides a delightful contrast to the tender, pink salmon on the inside.
3. Assemble Your Salmon Sliders
Let’s assemble our salmon sliders. Slice King’s Hawaiian rolls in half and toast inner sides lightly to add a slight crunch to the sliders.
Spread sauce from step 1 on the bottom bun. Then, layer the grilled salmon, bacon, tomato, and arugula over it.
Drizzle any remaining sauce over the salmon sliders before topping it off with the other half of the sweet rolls. Enjoy!
