Preparation

Preparation

Tri-tip is coated with Big Island Bees Wilelaiki Honey, which is made from the nectar of a single flower for flavor intensity. The honey penetrates the meat and locks in flavor before BBQ sauce is added. This special technique and a KING'S HAWAIIAN Sandwich Bun give you an extraordinary taste!
Step 1
Pre-heat Grill
Step 2
Season tri-tip with sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste.
Step 3
Heat canola oil in large saute pan on medium high heat and sear tri-tip until dark golden brown on each side.
Step 4
Coat top and bottom of seared tri-tip with Big Island Bees Wilelaiki Honey and then generously cover with your favorite BBQ sauce.
Step 5
Place seared tri-tip onto grill for about 25 minutes. When tri-tip reaches 130 - 140 degrees, remove from the grill and let rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 6
Make pickles. Cut cucumber cut into 1/4
Step 7
Toast lightly buttered buns on grill and set aside.
Step 8
Carefully slice tri-tip into 1/8 inch slices
Step 9
Assemble sandwiches. On bun bottoms, place sliced tomatoes, then pickled cucumbers, then sliced tri-tip. Pour remaining BBQ sauce on top. Sprinkle green onions on top of that. Place top bun and serve.
