Fall is here and football season is in full swing. That means gathering with family and friends for tailgating or all cramming on the couch with some awesome game day food while you root for your favorite team.

My boys loved playing six-man football and really it was pretty exciting to watch. Rather they are playing football or watching football, they have amazing appetites and it is up to me to provide the big spread of game day food.

I like to have a big variety with chili, hot dogs, dips and sandwiches are a must. I think sliders are great because they are small and then you can have a little bit of everything. I also like things to be simple so that I can enjoy the game with everyone and not be stuck in the kitchen.

These Italian Sausage Sliders are super simple and were the first to disappear. The Italian Sausage cooks up really quick is then simmered in marinara sauce, smothered in caramelized onions topped with a little melty cheese and then sandwiched between our favorite KING'S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls. Game day perfection I tell you!

So no matter which team you are rooting for, good food and time spent with family and friends is always the most important. It is easy to get busy with everything life throws at us and I know it does my family good to just slow down for an afternoon and spend some time together. Especially since our oldest is in college, we are definitely enjoying the weekend family time.

KING'S HAWAIIAN SUPER SIMPLE SAUSAGE SLIDERS

Ingredients:

Cooking Directions:

Divide sausage into 12 equal sections and pat into small patties. Place a skillet over medium-high heat and add sausage patties. Cook about 4 minutes per side or until browned and cooked through. If there is excess drippings, drain them and discard. Add marinara sauce and lower heat to simmer. Continue to cook 5 minutes.

While sausage is cooking, add butter to a small skillet over medium heat. When butter has melted, add onions and cook, stirring often until caramelized.

To assemble sliders: Cut King's Hawaiian Rolls in half. Layer each with an Italian sausage patty, about a teaspoon of shredded cheese, a few onions and top with roll top. Serve immediately.
