Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 12th. I happen to be a Mom to 3 fantastically energetic and beautiful children. It is true what they say, being a parent is the hardest yet most rewarding job on the planet. One thing I always appreciate on Mother’s Day (besides sleeping in) is having my family cook for me (and of course take care of the dishes afterwards). It is a very special treat and one I look forward to it.

If you haven’t already thought about what to make for the Moms in your life ehem why not surprise her with a creamy and decadent bread pudding to go along with whatever meal you plan on making. Don’t let the words bread pudding scare you off. Bread pudding is one of those dishes that honestly should have a better name because let’s face it, “bread pudding” doesn’t sound as appetizing and amazing as it really is.

Our version starts with King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Dinner Rolls. I could honestly eat an entire package of them on their own (but that wouldn’t be good would it sigh). Their sweetness, texture and smell make them instantaneously recognizable and definitely desirable. To that we bump up the flavor factor with a splash of bourbon and bacon. Because everything is better with bacon.

Serve the bread pudding warm and for even more oomph add a dollop of vanilla bean ice cream.
